44 years in Christian Ministry – a quiet Australian. The Tweed Heads Chamber of Commerce this month published ‘member’ Rev Dr Mark Tronson ‘profile’.
Dr Mark Tronson been a NSW Baptist minister for 44 years who served as the Australian cricket team chaplain for 17 years (2000 ret) and established Life After Cricket in 2001. He founded sports chaplaincy across Australia in 1982 under Heads of Churches
In 1989 he initiated a beach lodge ‘Basil Sellers House’ in Moruya NSW south coast - for Australian Institute of Sport elite athletes - opened in 1992 – and a few years later the - Basil Sellers Art Centre - for the community - with a Basil Sellers $10,000 art prize.

Tweed Heads
Mark and Delma Tronson’s relocated to Tweed Heads in December 2005 – as Chairman of Well-Being Australia. He coordinated respite for the AIS SE Qld Sport Units athletes with the Domain Resort at Cabarita, Tweed Coast.
Dr Mark Tronson bought the young writer ministry into fruition in 2008 in conjunction with Christian Today – an online international daily Christian News and Comment. Today there are 110 young people (18-30) who write a monthly Comment column from Australia, New Zealand and Internationals.
He was the Australian Olympic Chaplain in 1984 and subsequently appointed the Olympic chaplains and in 2000 IOC Vice President Kevan Gosper AC sent Dr Tronson to the IOC in Lausanne Switzerland to assist staff develop the Transfer of Knowledge of Religious Services for Olympic Host Cities.
Dr Mark Tronson was recognised with the Olympic Ministry Medal in 2009 presented by Carl Lewis, Olympian of the Century.
Dr Tronson writes a daily article for Christian Today Australia (since 2008) and in November 2016 established Christian Today New Zealand.
Dr Mark Tronson’s Press Service International (young writers) in 2019 was awarded ‘The Gutenberg’ - the Australasian Religious Press Association’s premier award (Golden Logie for Christian media).
In September 2020 Summer Moore presented her commission portrait of Dr Mark Tronson holding the Gutenberg plaque.
Mission respite facilities
In 2011 Mark established Laguna Quays Respite (Whitsundays) for missionary respite and replicated at Aldinga Beach 2016 (Adelaide) and 2018 Greens Beach Bass Straight (TAS).
His ministry is honoured all these years by Christian philanthropist Mr Basil Sellers AM.
Mark Tronson married to Delma (44 years), with four adult married children and 5 grand-children.
