I’m one who likes to make an effort, I like to be a little over the top and I am all for meaningful and creative measures.
My love for creating extends across most of my life and it’s so present everyday. One of the things I love to do is host and I love to be extra creative especially when I host birthdays. So whether it’s a themed set up, meaningful gift bags, the extra touch of personalised cups or gifts, I love it all!
I could spend my life doing this, I would happily work in events creating magic everyday, however I don’t feel that is my life’s calling but I enjoy doing it on the side and I know that when I get to celebrate and share with others in this way it brings me great joy.
As I recently celebrated my 30th birthday I had created a space in my home, a little bit of magic from the daily norm, I created gift bags, I made 30 themed cups that every guest could take home, I created signs and a photo space, but most of all I created something I enjoyed creating and that bought me and my friends and family joy.
I also got to create some more magic as I had cultivated a plan over the previous few months to surprise my African family and celebrate with them too. I got to create gift bags for the children who were here when I was previously- they were so proud to have something with their name on it. I was able to make Japanese aprons with the logo of the children's home on them for the staff to wear when they are working to help protect their own clothing.
I am so blessed by the joy my love for creating brings not only to my own life but to others as well.
I am a Young Salvationist who lives in Upper Hutt, Wellington. I am passionate about enhancing the life experiences of others and do this in my paid employment as a Support worker for those with Intellectual Disabilities and as a volunteer leader for Girl Guiding New Zealand.
I love to create, write and travel the world and have a passion for submerging myself in the cultures of each place I travel. I left my heart in Africa a month before Covid sent the world into lockdown and I cannot wait to be able to return and serve in a continent that stole so much of my heart.
