We live in a world where art comes in many forms. My 7 year old nephew has started his own little lilies empire.
With his family's support he’s been planting, growing, nourishing and caring for his lilies. Then every year when they bloom he sets up his roadside stall to sell them. He gets more requests than he can keep up with, his flowers are spread across the community and in particular across their community page on Facebook; people raving and sharing how much they love his lilies.
I find it amazing that we can share our life’s passions in so many different forms and how it can impact people in different and profound ways. This little dude, a 7 year old, is making people’s days, he’s selling, growing and delivering gorgeous flowers- something I’m not even capable of doing as an adult, everything dies!!
God has given us all our own talents and abilities that we get to share with the world and that’s something pretty special. Not one of us is the same, I like to think of myself as creative- but I’m not wonderfully talented or artistic but I do like to try new things and be creative in what I do. I love to write, to sew, to make crafty and creative things especially personalised gifts.
My nephew has an eye for creative things too, he loves his little garden and his lilies, he loves his party planning and making his invitations, signs and so much more.
I am a Young Salvationist who lives in Upper Hutt, Wellington. I am passionate about enhancing the life experiences of others and do this in my paid employment as a Support worker for those with Intellectual Disabilities and as a volunteer leader for GirlGuiding New Zealand. I love to create, write and travel the world and have a passion for submerging myself in the cultures of each place I travel. I left my heart in Africa a month before Covid sent the world into lockdown and I cannot wait to be able to return and serve in a continent that stole so much of my heart.
