About a year ago the Holy Spirit was showing me a gap in the Body of Christ and I was amazed when he showed me. The Lord began to show me that we have become focused on building great programs and services which is awesome. But we have neglected the fact of Biblical Discipleship in the church.
Recently I was convicted in a prayer meeting by how many people weren’t in a room and the Lord spoke to me and he said that there are people in the room but you are looking at the numbers rather than the fruit that is in this room.
I received a revelation that we so often base our church communities on how many people are in a room but we forget the fruit of Discipleship that can be in our midst. As a minister of the Gospel I have been challenged to get caught up in this season with the individual and to make sure that people are being disciple din the faith.
This article is written in mind to encourage us to be a people that get caught up in mobilizing the Kingdom by seeing souls saved into the Kingdom but then start to disciple the people that the Lord has entrusted to us. You may have a community of 200 or 2,000 people. But here is a challenge today? How many people in your congregation are being discipled?
When I mean discipled I mean are they are growing spiritually daily? They are being held accountable in living the lives that they are called by God to live?
Discipleship
Discipleship isn’t just church attendance but it is going deeper than that. Discipleship is taking someone from being a Sunday Christian to a radical follower of Jesus Christ and that is the church that Jesus is coming back for!
We need to be a people that get caught up with being there for people and not just for programs. Are we building communities that are say I will see you next Sunday or are we building churches that are about doing life and helping people through their relationship with God.
One of the greatest temptations that the enemy tries to bring upon Christians is to not open up to others or to be isolated from church life. But in order for you and me to grow in discipleship we need to do that with others and to be around people that will take us to new levels in our relationship with Lord.
My challenge in this article today is that we become people that are firstly all about the one, and secondly that we are creating environments where we are studying God’s Word together. This can be anywhere!
As I end this article my prayer is that your local church community will embrace a new level of Intimacy with the Father and a radical image of discipleship that will birth a revival into your communities and your city. That is taking people from Religion to a Relationship with our Father that is the eternal prize!
