‘The only real prison is fear and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.’ Aung San Suu Kyi
‘Life without liberty is like a body without Spirit.’ Kahlil Gibran
Freedom has only ever been achieved through courage and is always lost for lack of it. I could say that safety and security have always been the currency for which freedom is willingly sold but that would make light of the mafia-type strong-arming through which those who assume power insist on its selling.
No one willingly hands over freedom without first being coerced or convinced that they are not mature enough to continue to hold it. It is the oldest trick in the book.
The same circumcision crew who troubled the Galatians who had received Paul’s glorious gospel are once again traversing the airwaves at their bewitching best. Many Christians have been praying for a long time that the church would break out of her four walls.
Now that church is mostly shut down and the world’s political leaders and populations are behaving like the law-imposing religious cultists I encountered often growing up in church, I’m starting to think we should rebuild the walls and push some people back in.
I cannot thank God enough for Paul the apostle.
The man had a true roadmap to freedom from God. One that thankfully has been preserved for thousands of years now. Unlike the everchanging Covid-19 pandemic roadmaps to freedom that politicians are scribbling on magic eraser boards today, Paul’s words are trustworthy and weighty, and when revealed through the Spirit of God, liberating!
Paul’s roadmap to freedom was so powerful that it not only could deliver you from a somewhat deadly virus, depending on your age, locality and current health, his way of freedom could deliver you from the entire present evil age in which you live! (Galatians 1:4).
Paul did not believe in Gentiles selling their blood-purchased liberties to receive extra faux securities from the law peddling Judaizers. The assumptive, old world experts that crept in while everyone was happily enjoying their freedom in Christ and all of a sudden insisted people be circumcised (or vaccinated) so they can be re-included into the society they are already born into through Christ. Of course, regression from confident standing and living must first be instilled through fear. Yes, you’re saved … but there is a chance … you could be in danger … if.
Freedom
Freedom is for the mature, and the only path through which one can become mature. Excessive boundaries and rules are for the infantile and quickly descend into infantile behaviour. Squabbling, division, tantrums, crying about one person being more favoured than another, are evidence of being a toddler, or a 2020 social justice warrior.
Today I watched journalists discuss the little details of curfews, good behaviour for grown adults and single visiting rules with the Victorian State Premier, instead of pressing him about why he has gone rogue and imprisoned his entire state over an infection rate that most countries of the world would be declaring a public holiday celebration over!
We, the people, are not locked down because we are sick, or a danger to ourselves, or immature and uninformed. We are not under 24-hour surveillance because we need to be minded. We are not masked and muzzled because we are spreading lies and false information on the internet. We are not free solely through privilege.
The age has changed
We are locked down because we are strong, separated because we are kind, censored because we know all things, monitored and closed off because we have access to all the earth, free because we believed and fought for it. The people of earth have never been more powerful, and the rulers of the earth know it. They are afraid of how far we have come. Christ will rule, and every current power must give way. The age has changed. Elementary school is over. The people are awakening to the power of Christ within. That is true freedom.
