Kiwi young writer Jessica Knell won the New Zealand Theology Award presented at the annual young writers conference on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
The Awards are presented at 4.00pm of the conference each year – there are a number of awards but with Covid 19 restrictions many were unable to attend in 2020.
Each of the Kiwi young writers in the Press Service International program in conjunction with Christian Today sent in their BEST article for the five Panellists to mark out of 25 - the 25 mark was chosen as in previous years there have been too many multiple winners out of 10 marks.
The New Zealand Panellists
Brian Carrell - a retired Anglican Bishop
Christina Tyson - retired Sallies Media editor
Liz Hay - a retired professional editor
Wayne Graham - editor of the Daily Encourager
Sarah Richards - former editor NZ Bible Society
Theology Award
The Theology Award addresses the young writer’s grasp of the interlocking aspects of theological thinking and how the saving grace of Jesus powers thru.
There is a long list of celebrity young writers over the years who have been acknowledged for their astute theological appreciations.
Jessica Knell
Jessica Knell is from Auckland New Zealand and enjoys spending time in nature and reading a good book. Writing is her way of communicating with God, expressing creativity and processing ideas.
Jessica is a nurse and has spent time in the South Pacific in mission in nursing. Talk to Jessica over a meal and you’ll come away with a deep appreciation of her faith in Christ and the outworking of that commitment to Christ. Her articles reflect this greater sphere of theological thought.
Jessica is engaged to a fellow young writer – their friendship gathered pace after the 2019 young writer conference in Melbourne. Jessica was awarded the 2019 NZ Youth Award with Rebecca Hoverd.
