From childhood, September has been programmed within us or marked to be seen as a season of new beginnings, of change, of celebrating growth and of course, navigating an unknown level.
Whether it be through our vibrant energy towards school or whether we desire to end the year strong, many commentators even refer to the days being shorter and nights being cooler as a part of the “new beginnings theory”.
Re-strategize
Whichever reason may prompt you to believe or not believe in the renewal of the month, you can evaluate. Many had set goals and plans from the beginning of the year or a little later —like myself — and may have not completed those goals yet. This is your chance to see what strategy was used and whether it proved to be effective.
Conduct a SWOT analysis to bring awareness to your strengths, weaknesses, areas of opportunities and threats that may aid in better alignment with those desired goals.
Propitious molding
Although this may be true for some, others may be experiencing a sense of defeat because of their inability to see any results from the process or strategy used to achieve their goal. However, do not lose faith in the journey that God has created. Each obstacle or waiting is to mold you and “to give you an expected end,” (Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11).
So, find solace in “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Roman chapter 8 verse 28)
Though you might want certain plans or goals to materialize, we have to understand that there are changing situations and a purposeful process to land ourselves that new car or new account or even a new gym routine. The process is necessary to mold the discipline and a different sense of appreciation for that glimmering result because of the lessons taught throughout the unfolding of greatness.
The purposeful process
Many like myself would despise the process or the waiting or the journey. Maybe like me, you would love to reach or acquire or gain whatever you desire in the snap of a finger.
However, in life, everything undergoes a process.
In Information Technology, we learn that data is converted and undergoes a “process” to become information that becomes useful.
In Genesis chapters 37-50, we read about Joseph’s process from the hardship of prison, enduring those awful conditions to the revelation of purpose being fulfilled in the palace as Prince. Joseph could have decided to lose faith and courage because the process seemed unfair or tedious, so “why not give up?” But he understood that the process is purposeful to transform you from a microscopic state to become a statement of worth and value.
The Yin Yang finale
Though you may not see or know the promised end, this process is vital in you building that Sylvester Stallone endurance and muscular strength for life’s journey.
The journey to accomplishing each goal requires discipline, determination and courage to withstand times of weakness, turmoil and defeat.
In the words of the great Maya Angelou, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
Hence, be encouraged and strengthened, stay the course that God has positioned you and resume your process with newfound insight for the unraveling of that new beginning.
God is doing a new thing: “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah chapter 43 verses 18 and 19 NLT)
Therefore, whose report will you believe?
I will trust the report of the Lord!
