CYC Burleigh (Gold Coast) in 2022 is celebrating their 75th anniversary and it was befitting to donate the 30 year pre-loved Well-Being Australia table tennis table.
It was collected from Tweed Heads on Tuesday - from the Well-Being Australia national office.
The table tennis table was bought up from Moruya on the New South Wales south coast 15 years ago where it was housed in a large garage for the Australian Institute of Sport elite athletes when visiting Basil Sellers House (Timeout in Moruya).
It was a ‘hot place’ for the Chinese AIS Gymnasts coaches who were passionate at table tennis and continually wanted to challenge the in-house chaplain Dr Mark Tronson, who had to his credit the 1980 Shell Australia table tennis title. Mark utilized a very old crinkly wooden bat which puzzled his opponents no end.
This old bat was put together in a woodwork class at Maclean High School by Colin Cowling in the early 70s. Colin was a fellow seminarian at Morling College 1977-79 with Mark. The table tennis room at Morling was (dad joke) nicknamed ‘The Den on Sin’ - it was a favourite spot for theological discussion.
Meanwhile our table tennis sat in the Well-Being Australia enormous office space in Tweed Heads for these past 15 years – both for table tennis – and for a large space to put ‘stuff on’ (multi-functional).
Clean out
A massive 15 year clean out took place two weeks ago - one person’s rubbish is another person’s treasure.
The clean out after 15 years was designed to put in an internal wall to set aside a small space as a prayer room.

To make the space the table tennis table had to be folded up and put aside.
Church link
Well-Being Australia’s Mark and Delma Tronson worship at Living Temple Christian Church (Tugun Baptist), where they caught up with CYC Burleigh’s Andrew Grant, and offered as a gifting the table tennis table for their youth camps.
It was snapped up and then collected on Tuesday.
