Whoosah: It’s the sound you make when you release all the tension you have been holding on to. It’s a verbal sigh, not a sign of frustration but a choice to move past whatever may be clouding your mind. It is the act of letting go.
The past 2 years have been a hodgepodge of happy and sad moments, failures, and successes, of celebrations and mourning.I feel like we need a collective whoosah.
Just when we thought 2022 maybe a bit brighter, we get hit with another variant of Covid 19 and it seems like we have travelled back to 2020.
But how do we make sense of all of this without loosing our minds… Whoosah. We choose to release and let go off the thoughts that choke our minds and keep us locked into the same patterns every day. We choose to release the fears that keep us paralyzed from moving forward.
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans chapter 8, verse 31). There is nothing that can derail God’s plans for our lives, so even though it seems like our entire schedules have been disrupted, God can still work it out for our good.
So, what shall we say to these things? Whoosah. We choose to let our plans go because we know that God’s plan is perfect for our lives. We choose to let go of our timelines because we serve the Alpha and the Omega – he knows our beginning and our end.
Sometimes, the whoosah is not enough. Sometimes you might need to take a long stroll and talk with God orjust get physical exercise. I have often tried these solutions along with cooking, coloring, and writing.
These new adaptations that we have had to make, may be around longer than we would want, so we must make the best of our situations. In all of this, we need to get closer to God, because he is the only constant during this rapidly changing world.
So now, all together we take a deep breath in and as we release, we let out a whoosah. I just want to share a prayer that we all know but is also a fitting note to end on.
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
