  • Starve your distractions

    I am an incredible procrastinator.

  • Cool, calm and collected… maybe…

Sometimes I think I’ve got it all under control. I’m running towards the finishing line, strong and steady, and then a massive boulder rolls past and shoves me down a back alleyway.

  • It is okay to be innocent

I am heavily inspired by heroic films and literature, so in my mind my education experiences have been viewed as my ‘battleground’.

  • Words, and hearing the voice of God

Words have so much power. One line from Star Wars can change the whole face of the storyline “Luke, I am your father” – Darth Vader. What an absolute shocker that was.

  • No pain, no gain

The day finally came when I would walk proudly across that brightly lit stage to shake the hand of the man who would give me the piece of paper explaining what I had spent 3.5 years focussing on to officially qualify in. BIG sigh of relief when I held that paper in my hand. It was finally over.

  • Jesus knows how this feels

I feel so betrayed when my family eats the last block of chocolate in the house. Did they not think of me in those last few moments where they took that small little square of goodness and shoved it into their mouths?

  • Don’t be mistaken

For a long time, I often wondered: ‘if I made a mistake about something, did I change the whole plan God had for me?’ As silly as this may seem, I don’t doubt many others have thought the same way.

  • I’m giving you your strength back

Coming into the new year, everyone reflects on their past. They think on what they can change, how they can pursue their dreams, ridding themselves of old habits, and renewing themselves for a fresh start.

  • Ruth: A woman of faith

If anyone had created a manual for ‘how to get through Uni emotion free’, I feel like my semester would have gone a lot easier. Instead, like every semester, I had to go through those times of stress, bewilderment, and frustration, not to mention consistently reminding myself that ‘this is what I am dreaming of. This is what I want to accomplish.’

  • Are you brave again?

The daring adventure of being brave seems to be such a simple concept in movies. That moment where an overwhelming sense of bravery overtakes a person, and they defeat the evil against them. It seems so simple and easy to follow. But it really isn’t in real life.
